Contrast of Hues
(Three A6, One Double Page Spread)
Flea markets and charity shops have seen an increase in popularity due to the resurgence of 80s and 90s fashion trends. They are full of discarded garments and accessories at the fraction of the original retail price. They retain authenticity from their era and hold a vintage aesthetic unlike some of the modern remakes.
Contrast of Hues consists of accessories which accumulate to sum of £10, they appear incredibly vivid due to the effect that black has on the three primary hues. Itten’s chapter on Colour Agent and Colour Effect summarises that yellow, red and blue appear more brilliant on a black background than a white. The combination of all three primary colours is the most powerful combination of hues.
